Get ready to dance, dine, and delight in a night of Czech culture! After the incredible success of our 2019 event, Polka & Pilsner returns to The Point Artist-Run Centre at 6pm on Friday, November 15th, 2024. We’ve teamed up with the Czech community and the Multicultural Society to bring you an evening full of lively polka music, dance, and authentic Czech food.

The night kicks off with a traditional Czech dinner prepared by Chef Petr Cagásek. As you savor the delicious flavors of Czech cuisine, you’ll be treated to the elegant piano melodies of Veronika Mouricová, setting the perfect tone for a delightful evening.

Once dinner has satisfied your taste buds, it’s time to hit the dance floor! Get ready to move as Andrea Valčeková leads you through polka dance lessons that will have you twirling and spinning with ease—even if you’ve never danced before!

And the fun doesn’t stop there. Radim Koppitz on violin and Thomas Studer on accordion will fill the room with the infectious energy of polka, keeping the dance floor going with their live music. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just learning the steps, this lively celebration will have you dancing the night away.

Tickets are priced at $35, which includes dinner, the show, and a night of dancing. If you’d rather join after dinner, tickets are available for $15 for the music and dancing portion of the evening. Kids 6- 13 dinner tickets will be $20 and 5 and under are free so bring the whole family!

More than just a night out, Polka & Pilsner is a celebration of community, culture, and connection. Whether you’re reconnecting with your heritage or simply exploring something new, this event offers a chance to experience the richness of Czech traditions in a fun, festive, and welcoming atmosphere. So bring your appetite and dancing shoes and join us for a night to remember!

The Point would like to thank the support of the BC Arts Council and the Province of BC.
