“Crypto Caper” by Alan Forsythe – 8PM
 Directed by Angie Nolan
“Crypto Caper” takes place at a remote mountain inn where Trudy and Leticia are running out of ideas on how to keep business afloat in their remote mountain inn. It’s the arrival of unexpected guests, Brad and Kimberley, a secretive “influencer" couple wanting to pay in crypto currency, that spins Leticia’s overactive imagination out of control.  While Trudy plays “hostess with the mostest”, Leticia’s amateur sleuthing sends the foursome down a slippery slope of mystery and misadventure.

FEATURING:

Francisca Dennis as Trudy

Heather Paul as Leticia

Angie Nolan as Kimberley

George Honesty Jr. (aka C.R. Avery) as Brad

(INTERMISSION)

“Aye Aye AI” by Stephen Vogler – 8:45PM
Directed by Kathy Daniels and Carla Fuhre
Desperately in need of a new play script––and the Canada Council funding that will keep their theatre company alive––Sarah, Trueman, Liz and Dwight settle on the obvious solution: employ Open Source AI’s Chat GPT to write it for them. What could go wrong? Plenty, it turns out as this play within a play spins into a comedic tug-of-war between real life thespians and a couple of audacious AI characters.

FEATURING

Emma Strong as Sarah and Dana

Susan Huthinson as Liz and Sophia

David Francis as Dwight and Alex

Andrew Wood as Trueman and Julien

THE PLAYWRIGHTS

Alan Forsythe "Crypto Caper"

Born and raised on the North Shore, Alan Forsythe has been skiing Whistler since he was ten, and writing fiction for almost as long. His first published short story was in Pique Newsmagazine. His first produced short play was with the award winning Between Shifts Theatre group in Squamish. Forsythe has since published and had produced several full length plays and novels, most notably Night of the B Movie and The Gambler and the Gambler's Wife, but has and likely always will love short form storytelling.

Stephen Vogler  "Aye Aye AI"
Stephen is an author, playwright, and musician based in Whistler. He has published three books including Only in Whistler: Tales of a Mountain Town, and has written and presented for CBC Radio’s Ideas among other programs. Stephen’s last play, About The Moose, premiered at the 2019 Flag Stop Theatre & Arts Festival, and played at theatres in Gibsons, Powell River and at the Maury Young Arts Centre in Whistler Village.
