Flag Stop Theatre & Arts Festival

Take in the show with a spectacular dinner or arrive for the entertainment alone. Have a drink from Harrop’s Bar and enjoy the roving entertainers before the premieres of two new plays on the floating stage, “Crypto Caper” by Alan Forsythe, and “Aye Aye AI” by Stephen Vogler. Then move inside the lodge to dance to Vancouver’s veteran pop punk rockers Pointed Sticks.

THE PLAYS

“Crypto Caper” by Alan Forsythe – 7:15PM

 Directed by Angie Nolan

“Crypto Caper” takes place at a remote mountain inn where Trudy and Leticia are running out of ideas on how to keep business afloat in their remote mountain inn. It’s the arrival of unexpected guests, Brad and Kimberley, a secretive “influencer" couple wanting to pay in crypto currency, that spins Leticia’s overactive imagination out of control.  While Trudy plays “hostess with the mostest”, Leticia’s amateur sleuthing sends the foursome down a slippery slope of mystery and misadventure.

Featuring: Francisca Dennis, Angie Nolan, Heather Paul and George Honesty Jr. (aka C.R. Avery)

“Aye Aye AI” by Stephen Vogler – 8PM

Directed by Kathy Daniels and Carla Fuhre

Desperately in need of a new play script––and the Canada Council funding that will keep their theatre company alive––Sarah, Trueman, Liz and Dwight settle on the obvious solution: employ Open Source AI’s Chat GPT to write it for them. What could go wrong? Plenty, it turns out as this play within a play spins into a comedic tug-of-war between real life thespians and a couple of audacious AI characters.

Featuring Susan Hutchinson, Emma Strong, David Francis and Andrew Wood
